MotoCzysz IOM 2011, returns with Miller, Rutter
2011-05-23
MotoCzysz returns to the Isle of Man armed with two new machines to defend their 2010 win. Last year’s TT Zero winner, Mark Miller will be aboard a heavily upgraded 2010.5 E1pc and will be teamed with Michael Rutter on the all new 2011 E1pc.
“We have decided to take a measured approach to defending our win in 2010” says team boss Michael Czysz, “we are confident the 2011 will ultimately be the faster machine but as of now it is very unproven and as of today, the 2010.5 is the faster of the two machines and will be given to Miller.”
Miller set a new lap record in 2010 for electric bikes around the 37.73 mile course with a 96.820mph avg. holding a 2 minute lead over second place and just narrowly missing the coveted 100mph award. For 2011 Miller’s E1pc has been updated with components that will not only allow for greater acceleration and a higher top speed but will do so more efficiently.
Rutter will get to test the completely new, ground up 2011 MotoCzysz machine. The 2011 MotoCzysz E1pc is a radically new, clean sheet design, improving nearly every aspect of the motorcycle, from motor, suspension, chassis and even batteries. “As good as the 2010 machine was, we had a list of improvements we wanted to address; not just superficially but deeply, this required an all new machine.” concludes Czysz
Improvements for 2011 include;
50mm shorter wheelbase for quicker steering
better/ideal weight distribution
more rear wheel torque (up nearly 30% over 2010)
60% improvement in horsepower (nearly 200hp)
improved/extended torque curve (redline over 10,000rpm)
more energy on board (amount undisclosed)
reduced overall weight by over 25lbs (under 500lbs)
improved aerodynamics
significantly overall higher efficiency (near 20% at 100 mph)
The mountain course is an unbelievable challenge for both rider and machine- it has no equal. To circulate the course on an electric powered motorcycle, averaging over 100mph is a feet like no other in electric motorcycle racing, MotoCzysz will try to be the first manufacturer to do so.
